Στις 24 Φεβρουαρίου 1968 σημειώνεται ρεκόρ προσέλευσης θεατών σε αγώνα ποδοσφαίρου στο Hampden Park, όταν 134.461 άτομα παρακολουθούν τον αγώνα Σκωτία - Αγγλία για το Ευρωπαϊκό Πρωτάθλημα.
2002-Ολοκληρώνονται οι 19οι Χειμερινοί Ολυμπιακοί Αγώνες στο Σολτ Λέικ Σίτι των ΗΠΑ που ξεκίνησαν στις 8/2. Στους αγώνες συμμετείχαν 1513 αθλητές και 886 αθλήτριες από 77 χώρες σε 78 αγωνίσματα 7 αθλημάτων. Στον πίνακα των μεταλλίων την πρώτη θέση πήρε η Νορβηγία με 25 (13-5-7), τη δεύτερη η Γερμανία με 36 (12-16-8) και την τρίτη η Αυστρία με 34 (10-13-11).
1993-Πεθαίνει από καρκίνο του στομάχου ο Bobby Moore, λίμπερο και αρχηγός της Eθνικής Αγγλίας που γεννήθηκε στις 12/4/1941. Με την εθνική ομάδα έκανε το ντεμπούτο του στις 20/5/1962 εναντίον του Περού στη Λίμα (0-4), συμπλήρωσε 100 συμμετοχές στις 14/2/1973 εναντίον της Σκωτίας στη Γλασκώβη (0-5), ενώ στον αποχαιρετιστήριο αγώνα του (108ος / 91 φορές αρχηγός) η Αγγλία έχασε με 1-0 στο Λονδίνο από την Ιταλία. Στο πρωτάθλημα έπαιξε σε 999 αγώνες.
1991-Ντεμπούτο του Νίκου Μαχλά με την ομάδα του ΟΦΗ εναντίον του Πανιωνίου
1987-Ο Kareem Abdul Jabbar των LA Lakers φτάνει τους 36.000 πόντους στην καριέρα του και σημειώνει το πρώτο του τρίποντο.
1985-Πεθαίνει από οξύ έμφραγμα του μυοκαρδίου σε ηλικία 82 ετών, ο Γιώργος Γιάμαλης, ο τερματοφύλακας που έγραψε ιστορία με την φανέλα της ΑΕΚ και της Εθνικής Ομάδας, μέλος της οποίας υπήρξε στην πρώτη της εμφάνιση.
1980-Πεθαίνει στο Λονδίνο σε ηλικία 77 ετών ο Γιώργος Ανδριανόπουλος, μία από τις σημαντικότερες μορφές του ελληνικού αθλητισμού. Ο "επικεφαλής" της θρυλικής πεντάδας του "προπολεμικού" Ολυμπιακού και της Εθνικής Ομάδας. Δύο φορές (το 1932 και τι διάστημα 1954-1967) διετέλεσε πρόεδρος του Ολυμπιακού, αλλά διακρίθηκε και στην πολιτική σκηνή σαν δήμαρχος Πειραιά, σαν βουλευτής της ΕΡΕ, αλλά και υπουργός Εμπορικής Ναυτιλίας.
