Έρευνα που διεξήγαγε η WilderResearch τον Οκτώβρη του 2012 στην πολιτεία της Μινεσότα κατέγραψε πάνω από 10.200 αστέγους (ενήλικες, νέοι, παιδιά), αριθμός αυξημένος κατά 6% από την τελευταία μέτρηση του 2009.
Να σημειωθεί ότι η Μινεσότα είχε το 2008 ακαθάριστο εγχώριο προϊόν 262 δισ. δολάρια με κατά κεφαλήν εισόδημα τα 42,772 δολάρια, το δέκατο υψηλότερο στις ΗΠΑ.

περίπου το μισό του άστεγου πληθυσμού της Μινεσότα. Από αυτούς τους

Η έρευνα κατέγραψε μια αύξηση του 4% στο αριθμό των οικογενειών
που μένουν άστεγες στο σύνολό τους και αύξηση 22% στον αριθμό των
άστεγων οικογενειών με δύο γονείς. Επίσης, καταγράφεται άλμα στον αριθμό
των ενήλικων άνω των 55 που μένουν άστεγοι.
Η αύξηση των άστεγων μεταξύ 2009-2012 έρχεται να προστεθεί στην ακόμα
μεγαλύτερη αύξησή τους μεταξύ του 2006 και 2009, που ήταν 25%, ενώ
ανησυχία προκαλεί το γεγονός ότι αυξάνεται ο αριθμός των άστεγων
